Info about BLOGGIING AND WEBSITES LIKE BLOGGER?

HEY, i wana start a blog possibly with blogger but i was wondering if i open one, could i then eventually turn it into a full domain website, with a similar look as perezhilton.com AND make money? can i make money off of blooger or blogspot if the domain is just blahblah/blogspot.com (as an example) thanks in advance!

You can't transfer it to your own site. You CAN purchase a domain name and redirect to your blog, but that won't change anything other than the URL. You would have to start with your own site from the beginning. Otherwise, any content you transfer would have to be done manually (copy/paste).


Generally speaking, you cannot make money from a blog. The only way you can get income is through advertising. Advertising only helps if your site is extremely popular. In 99% of cases the cost of running the site vastly overwhelms the revenue gained in advertising.


No you cannot make money of blog hosts, since you can't put your own advertising there unless they specifically provide an option to. And even if they did, the same problems arise: advertising is only usefull if you have a lot of visitors.
Reply:It's very dangerous to create a website purely to make money unless you have something to sell. That can be a book you've written, or an item you produce. Too many people think they can put up a site, chuck in a few adsense ads, and the money will roll in. Not so! Before you can begin to make money on a site, be it a blog or a standard site, you MUST give people a reason for going there. How you do this and how successful you can be is the subject of 10,000 web pages and 5,000 ebooks. Hopefully I've answered both parts of your question, but to say it differently, it doesn't matter if it's a blog or not, it all comes down to acceptable content and the ability of people to find that content. Changing a blog to a standard web page will require some work, but it's far from impossible.
