How can you make a word a link in blogger?
Once you've picked the phrase you want to hyperlink in the body of your text, left click and hold your cursor down and drag it across the phrase you want to turn into a link. Then,
look up to the top of the box you're typing in.
You'll see a row of symbols, starting with Font. The sixth (6th) symbol over looks like this: (**). That's the hyperlink button. Click it.
Make sure your text is still highlighted and type in the URL in the small box that pops up when you hit the hyperlink bottom. Type in the URL and hit ok.
If you've been successful, your link will be underlined. Good luck!

I copy and pasted an essay from word to the blogger screen, all looks fine. However when I publish the post there is no space between paragraphs so it all looks very odd. Any idea about the problem?

I must say that if you don't know the difference between the two, it is more likely that what you need is a normal blog.
Most hosting companies do allow you to transfer domain names and blogs into their arena of services, so that should not be a problem.

Which is a good thing... just recollecting how annoying and frustrating it was way back before blogging ever existed.

I must say that if you don't know the difference between the two, it is more likely that what you need is a normal blog.
Most hosting companies do allow you to transfer domain names and blogs into their arena of services, so that should not be a problem.

Ever since google bought blogger, puting your own custom layout is not allowed, why is that? And is there a way I can?

Go to the edit html tab and at the bottom of the page you should see where it says something along the lines of reverting the template to the previous format. Then it will warn you that you are about to revert and say ok to that. The reason they have the new format by default is for their new feature of allowing you to click and drag around elements on the blog without having to know any code. This is for the newbies who are not developers but still want to customize the template with only the "basic features".

It seriously depends on the reader. First of all you need to have a target audience in mind, and then try to adapt to their needs.
A blog, well mine at any rate, consists of random stories about my charming self. Basically you have to think as follows: why would a complete stranger care about what happens to you? Answer: a complete stranger doesn't care what happens to you.
So how do you make them relate to you?
1)Leave specifics out as much as possible (ie names of friends, acquaintances )
2)Try to engage them in your blog entries. After you blog about a certain topic ask them a question. Everyone likes to talk about themselves.
3) Try not to write overly long entries. People's attention span is extremely small, so it's very difficult to catch their attention
4) Don't whine, rant, ramble too much. Once or twice is acceptable, but bear in mind that strangers have very little sympathy for you.
5) Use proper spelling and grammar
6) Use an interesting writing style. I have personally found that a witty and humorous one suits me, and my readers seem to like that.
7) Try not to blog about over-used topics (i.e. vegetarianism, abortion, political correctness, etc), or if you really must do you best to make it different.
These are just a few, but you'll eventually find what works best for you.
Youtube videos: when you access one, there's a text saying embed this video into your site, copy and paste that code into your blog.
Don't go overboard with it, however. Youtube videos can take a long tie to load, which will bore visitors.

Reply:Interesting blogs would have traveling pictures or interesting pictures involving wordly images. What makes a blog more interesting is an advise column, such as this one. If you have classes to provide of interest such as yoga or meditative classes, or something isoteric OR ghost blogs, people would love them. Don't get me started on them Harry Potter blogs. You can be on it for days. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek have blogs too.
I prefer doing my blog on Myspace.com. I don't have much of anything interesting to say but over time, I'll think of something.

your using the embed code so it embeds the player on the page. your most likely going to want to see about your pages set up aka properties, and set it to overlay so you can conserve space. if it even allows you to control the blog like that.

It seriously depends on the reader. First of all you need to have a target audience in mind, and then try to adapt to their needs.
A blog, well mine at any rate, consists of random stories about my charming self. Basically you have to think as follows: why would a complete stranger care about what happens to you? Answer: a complete stranger doesn't care what happens to you.
So how do you make them relate to you?
1)Leave specifics out as much as possible (ie names of friends, acquaintances )
2)Try to engage them in your blog entries. After you blog about a certain topic ask them a question. Everyone likes to talk about themselves.
3) Try not to write overly long entries. People's attention span is extremely small, so it's very difficult to catch their attention
4) Don't whine, rant, ramble too much. Once or twice is acceptable, but bear in mind that strangers have very little sympathy for you.
5) Use proper spelling and grammar
6) Use an interesting writing style. I have personally found that a witty and humorous one suits me, and my readers seem to like that.
7) Try not to blog about over-used topics (i.e. vegetarianism, abortion, political correctness, etc), or if you really must do you best to make it different.
These are just a few, but you'll eventually find what works best for you.
Youtube videos: when you access one, there's a text saying embed this video into your site, copy and paste that code into your blog.
Don't go overboard with it, however. Youtube videos can take a long tie to load, which will bore visitors.

Reply:There's a massive amount of Blogg tutorials out there. Thousands in fact.
Reply:Interesting blogs would have traveling pictures or interesting pictures involving wordly images. What makes a blog more interesting is an advise column, such as this one. If you have classes to provide of interest such as yoga or meditative classes, or something isoteric OR ghost blogs, people would love them. Don't get me started on them Harry Potter blogs. You can be on it for days. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Star Trek have blogs too.
I prefer doing my blog on Myspace.com. I don't have much of anything interesting to say but over time, I'll think of something.

your using the embed code so it embeds the player on the page. your most likely going to want to see about your pages set up aka properties, and set it to overlay so you can conserve space. if it even allows you to control the blog like that.

Blogger say that you need to set a CNAME to ghs.google.com, and that's all there is to it. Fine, if it weren't for the fact that my cut-price registrant/host provider, Nameroute, don't provide let you change such things.
I can however change the nameservers to point there - would this work as well, or would disaster befall me?

or whatever you call it, like Typepad? I don't want to lose my design that I paid someone to do for me, or my content. And I can't get at my blog now that Blogger changed. Ed Stelmach recently confronted a blogger who legally bought the rights to Ed Stelmach.ca citing that he is misappropriating his person among other things. He plans to take the University student to court If he doesn't sign over the site to him and give him any profits he has earned from it as well.
The blogger is a friend of a friend of mine and I am just curious whether or not other people think Stelmach went as overboard as I do??

I haven't visited the site in question, but if in fact the blogger is running a business - no matter how small, such as a few google ads, that has been shown as intent to profit off of someone else's name in the past, and Rights of Publicity laws have been the hinge on which the cases were decided.
I am not familiar with the details of such laws in Canada, but I am guessing as this case moves forward, I will be learning about them :)

Reply:It is probably gone. If you didnt take the steps to back it up. I have heard others complain because they lost their blog from other locations and didnt have it backed up. Most blog sites as a rule dont back up personal blogs. You have to do it yourself.
As far as google deleting, it was probably an error and yes, most people dont know it but blogspot is Google.
You probably will have to start over.

Hey actually you can get many people to blog on your blog, its called 'Team Blog'. But you have to invite them. The general public cant. Maybe you can as people to send you a messege if they want to post on your page. then you can invite them. This is the link to their help site

I have a blog in Blogger and I tried to import my contento to Wordpress, but it does not load embed content as YouTube videos. How can I do this?

I did this with my blog a few months ago. I used the standard import inside Wordpress. It does have a problem with the embedded video. I didn't have too many of them, so I re-inserted them, but it could pose a problem if you have a lot. I found it easier to embed video if I turn off the WYSIWYG editor and just add/edit the html code. You might try turning off the WYSIWYG editor, deleting the posts, and then re-importing from Blogger.

I need help posting a video on blogger!?
We just purchased a sony video camera. When I hook it up the the computer it puts them in windows. When I try to post them on blogger it is the wrong type of file. Through windows movie maker it is .mswmm instead of .wmv. I heard that I am to go to file and save movie not project, but I can't find that option anywhere. Is the new Vista causing these problems? Since getting the new camera it won't work through blip.tv either. It says that it is converting it to flash media and fails. It asked for quicktime and after downloading that it still doesn't work. Any tips would be very helpful!

Why does the pic loaded onto the blogger shift far right?
i select browse under the title\date of blogger.
the pic loads fine.
When i preview or save w\o preview; the end result is a photo showing ONLY to the far right.
NOT where it should be; centered at the top.
Also, even with or w\o videos or pics; it auto double or so, spaces it's self.
It's wacked! hELP ME PLease.
it is frustrating for both muself and the reader.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG/?

Some blogs are really rude, I think blogger should ban those, who's with me?
The most obnoxious blog ever bashed my friends blog (who's a really good writer) down in a recent post. I read the whole thing and it's really too rude and not even funny. I wrote to blogger.com but they said they couldn't do anything about it. Who thinks these blogs written by these pricks should be suspended?

What about PHP, Ruby, Rails, or else? Also, is it possible for a blogger use server side scripts in his Blogger blog at all ?

Normally Blog websites such as Google's Blogger do NOT allow server-side scripting and hosting. But if you want to learn a server-side scripting language, I suggest Ruby and PHP.
