How to start a blog. Difference between typepad and blogger?

I'm confused. Blogger.com is free?

Typepad is like a $100 a year. How do you determine which is right for you? Can you transfer a blog from one server to another?

I'm curious if any of you have had experience with Typepad, etc. Are there others I should consider?

Thanks for your help...Happy Holidays!

How to start a blog. Difference between typepad and blogger?
I must say that if you don't know the difference between the two, it is more likely that what you need is a normal blog.

Most hosting companies do allow you to transfer domain names and blogs into their arena of services, so that should not be a problem.

The most crucial thing for you to be able to determine what you need, is to know what you need the blog for... If a normal blog can handle it... then you're set...

To start a blog... go to: http://www.blogger.com. Follow instructions and you'll be on the right track in no time. From personal experience with blogs, some of them might seem very uncustomizable... which can be painful if you want your blog to look a certain way... In that case, in the case that you want to be able to fully customize your online-space (blog or whatever else) you might find that a blog is not the best thing for you.

I personally hate the blog world for one reason. It made so easy what back in 2000 would take ages to make. To get feed back onto a site you had to make a guest book and code it right with some perl so you can recieve notifications. Now, its 1-2-3 typa easy... Which is a good thing... just recollecting how annoying and frustrating it was way back before blogging ever existed.

I hope I helped.
