You'll have to register the name with a domain registrar like godaddy: http://www.godaddy.com. Usually their rates are around $9.99. Depending on the extension(.us,.org,.net...etc), you could get a cheaper rate.
Reply:.com or anything after dot is known as an extention. all the dotcoms are called domain names. They are rented names. you have to buy them from certain websites for a year or 2 yrs or as many years as yo want then you have to buy webhosting which is Hard Drive space in a server somewhere in an Internet Service Provider company. They will connect that hard drive space to your dot com and then you can put files on your dotcom and it will be your website. I hope this helps.
