The instructions on the Stumble Upon button %26amp; tools page are so confusing. With digg,reddit %26amp; others, you just cut %26amp; copy, but for SU you have to download images, then upload them to blogger, (where in blogger, it doesn't say) and a few other steps. Is there an easy cut n paste that I can do this with?

Yes. Yahoo has a program similar to Google Adsense where publishers including bloggers can put ads on their sites and earn money from it. Their program is called Yahoo Publishers Network http://publisher.yahoo.com/

However, YPN is still in beta and is open by invitation only (you apply and you wait until they accept you). The program is currently open only to US residents.

The beta has been available since last year. Many people thought that it would be open to non-USA by end of 2005, but it did not happen. Nobody knows when it will be available to non-US publishers. Just apply at this point, and when the program is available to residents of your country, Yahoo will contact you.

They are rented names. you have to buy them from certain websites for a year or 2 yrs or as many years as yo want then you have to buy webhosting which is Hard Drive space in a server somewhere in an Internet Service Provider company. Quantcast only seems to be tracking domain level, not searchistheos.blogspot.com subdomains. Google analytics is not recording anything. Blogger.com only seems to be giving me the number of views on my profile as I care about the posts. ... and I am sure there has to be a super easy way I am just missing. Thanks for the help.

Use the Adsense feature called SECTION TARGETING https://www.google.com/support/adsense/b... wherein you let Adsense know what sections to focus on so it will read only those sections and provide more targeted ads for you.

With section targeting, you can put codes before and after the section you want the keywords to be based on. So you need to put the section targeting codes in the main body of your blog, excluding the navigation.

You can paste there your template, that should be saved as Peter explains every time you change it, and the cache versions of the latest posts, at least, and -in my case I did this- an explanatory post so that readers know why the archives etc are gone.

2. Before all the cache recovering and pasting, SEND AN E-MAIL TO BLOGGER SUPPORT explaining what has happened. You shall get an automatic reply within a day or two, but don't let that put you off: Blogger seems to have a centralized staff for the whole worldwide community, so they get rid of silly questions like that. REPLY TO THE AUTOMATIC E-MAIL YOU RECEIVED and state clearly what happened, that you erased your blog by mistake.

3. Now you can go through caches, cry and tear your hair out or write 10,000 times 'I shall not click on a button without reading it' while you wait for the next, personal, email you shall get from Blogger. A staff member shall contact you and ask a couple of questions but IT DOES TAKE A WEEK OR TWO -In my case, about two weeks. Once in touch with a Real Person, though, I got my whole blog back again, comments and all, and a warning that the new version i had done meanwhile to keep my URL would be replaced when I republished. So,

4. Make the temporary blog a new one, if you have been posting actively in the mean time, by modifying its URL before republishing. This way, you shall have your old blog, a new temp one to copy%26amp;paste posts from and a lesson learnt -one hopes!

I don't know what you mean by the links "are not registering with Google or Yahoo." The links work fine.

It takes a while for search engines to index a site. Whether or not they follow external links in the page depends on the context of the links; right now, those links have no context, so that may be impeding ranking results, if that's what you mean.

If that's the case, your problems have more to do with simply slapping links on a page than with any technical problem. You can't simply stick a link on a Web page and expect it to rank well. You have to place the link in the context of some meaningful text for it to index well.

I have a Yahoo 360 page listed under Jessica Dow, which is open to the public. Somone with experience might get a better idea of the best market for my work after seeing some examples. I also have links there to on-line portfolios and my new BLOGGER page ( which has some larger pictures of my custom work). I already have a few things on eBAY, on a trial basis. But I don't think eBAY is the right place for work such as mine. Any advice would be very helpful. I'm planning on starting a professional web-site, but most of the web-site designers I've seen charge prices currently not within my budget. I know there are site-builders, but I don't want a cheap knock off design ( template ) for my site. I want my site to reflect the same quality and beauty as the work I sell there. If that means I have to wait to hire a high priced professional, I'll do that. I'd appreciate hearing of any other options.

That's a good idea--I'd first thoroughly read Blogger's TOS (Terms of Service), their rules, etc. To make sure, I'd e-mail them (there's most likely a contact link somewhere on the website) asking about your business and your ideas to sell on Blogger. It doesn't seem necessary, but imagine your site being shut down to all the customers and the consequences of breaking the rules (if there are any against it, that is).

As for getting it noticed, a good first step is to get a 'dot-tk'. Basically, you pick a URL for your website (like mydesgins.tk). After that, you submit your Blogger URL, and anyone who types the URL from .tk is will be redirected to your site. So if they type in mydesigns.tk, that will be the URL in the bar, but your Blogger will load. It does have one page of advertisments beore redirecting, but it allows you to put in keywords to help people find your site on search engines. Even if no one uses the .tk URL, just having your site up on search engines is a benefit itself!

As for a professional website design--I'll make you one, free-of-charge. No links, nothing. I know, coming from someone you hardly know (and for free), it sounds like I wouldn't be able to do a quality job, but I will--I'll do it because I enjoy it. I own 10 domain names that I bought on godaddy. Right now they are cash parked and not doing anything. If I begin a blog for each one on Blogger, and have each original domain name forwarded to each blogger url (blogspot.xxx.com), can I get search engines to pick up the original domain name based on the related content I compose on the blogs? In theory, what your thinking of doing is considered a "link scheme" in most search engine eyes, and violates their webmaster guidelines. This can result from your site(s) being removed and banned from their indexs.

This is due to the fact that backlinks play a role in all 3 major search engine algorithms, some more than others. You always want backlinks to your website to be from "relevant" websites, this means the same topic of content\niche. Remember, one-way backlinks are more valuable than link exchanges.

If you INSIST on doing this there something you can do. You would actually need to create mini sites with those 10 domains. You would create about 30-50 static content\whatever pages into each site. They would have rich "UNIQUE" content and provide backlinks to your main site.

Reply:Myspace is hosted on IIS, so I would guess they might use ASP/Microsoft SQL Server, although they DO use ColdFusion (you see a lot of *.cfm). Orkut and Blogger seem to be hosted on Linux with Apache, so they're probably in PHP.

I know this seems like a really obvious question, but I can't figure it out. I can't find anywhere on blogger.com that lets me search for someone else's blog, or browse the millions of blogs that are out there. This is so bizarre to me. Don't they want people to discover other people's blogs and to use the site more?? Well, why won't they let me search???? Or am I missing something here....

I'm perfectly literate with traditional webpage design and coding (I can design an entire website from scratch), but I have absolutely no clue where to begin with coding a blogger blogskin. All the widgets and funny codes drive me mad!

(I'm alright with CSS, but I'm a lot more comfortable playing with HTML.)

Help, anyone? I just need to know how to work with the template codes, and if there's any simple way to integrate blogger's custom "codes" into a normal website code. (Note: I do plan on using blogspot.. Not on my own, personal site URL.)

How can you make a word a link in blogger?
Once you've picked the phrase you want to hyperlink in the body of your text, left click and hold your cursor down and drag it across the phrase you want to turn into a link. Then,

look up to the top of the box you're typing in.

You'll see a row of symbols, starting with Font. The sixth (6th) symbol over looks like this: (**). That's the hyperlink button. Click it.

Make sure your text is still highlighted and type in the URL in the small box that pops up when you hit the hyperlink bottom. Type in the URL and hit ok.

If you've been successful, your link will be underlined. Good luck!

I must say that if you don't know the difference between the two, it is more likely that what you need is a normal blog.

Most hosting companies do allow you to transfer domain names and blogs into their arena of services, so that should not be a problem.

The most crucial thing for you to be able to determine what you need, is to know what you need the blog for... If a normal blog can handle it... then you're set...

To start a blog... go to: http://www.blogger.com. Follow instructions and you'll be on the right track in no time. From personal experience with blogs, some of them might seem very uncustomizable... which can be painful if you want your blog to look a certain way... In that case, in the case that you want to be able to fully customize your online-space (blog or whatever else) you might find that a blog is not the best thing for you.

I personally hate the blog world for one reason. It made so easy what back in 2000 would take ages to make. To get feed back onto a site you had to make a guest book and code it right with some perl so you can recieve notifications. Now, its 1-2-3 typa easy... Which is a good thing... just recollecting how annoying and frustrating it was way back before blogging ever existed.

Ever since google bought blogger, puting your own custom layout is not allowed, why is that? And is there a way I can?

Well you can, but you have to revert it to the original format. Go to the edit html tab and at the bottom of the page you should see where it says something along the lines of reverting the template to the previous format. Then it will warn you that you are about to revert and say ok to that. The reason they have the new format by default is for their new feature of allowing you to click and drag around elements on the blog without having to know any code. This is for the newbies who are not developers but still want to customize the template with only the "basic features".

I already have a blog (www.irishpolyglot.com) and I was considering making the move to Blogger or Wordpress, but which is better? Is there any real difference in just having my own one page - will more people access it etc.?

Actually, yep - the main reason I can see is that blogger has its PageRank (and other reputation/authority ratings) quite high, and consequently its subdomains (irishpolyglot.blogger.com) might have higher rankings than the same web-site on your own domain.

It's like the army - you have many restrictions and have to obey to some rules, yet you get some advantages of being with a community.

However, I have never heard of a blogger hosted blog to be popular enough as, let's say youtube.com, or smartssex.com :).

I think a great solution will be not to move, but to copy (or move a part of materials) to the blog, and link back to your web-site from there.

It leaves you a possibility to do what you want on your domain, yet you get the advantages of blogger ratings.

Long answer: Blogger does not allow you to directly upload .zip files to their server. If you want this particular guestbook, you're going to need to host your blog somewhere else, preferably on your own site where you can do what you like.

I've tried to reach the programmer who put the site together, but he doesn't live in this area, and the people who worked with him to set up the site aren't sure where the application came from. First, the quick answer.. since Blogger IS Google, no, you need a Google account.

Second, there are all sorts of good reasons to have a Google account that have nothing to do with where you blog or where you read your email. For example...

1) Google Analytics - see where people are coming from when they visit your blog, not only what websites (links) but also where geographically. Find out which pages they're reading, and how long they're staying to read, and all sorts of other interesting phenomenon.

2) Google Maps. Want to blog about a specific location? Put a Google map on your site.

3) Google AdSense. Is your blog getting so popular that you could be making money with ads? This is the way to go.

That said, there are a couple of other ways to go. The quick and simple method... get an account over at WordPress...

Reply:You can create you own website for wedding info. You would need to find a "hosting service" and register with them. They would actually run the web site from their server, but you get to decide the URL such as the one you suggested. The cost for a good service is usually around $20 a month. It includes e-mail address, and often scripts for form submission and other things you will need for any kind of a "commercial" site.

If you check out the different hosting services, you will find may of them which offer "blog" software so that you can run a blog directly from your site. Again, the URL is your choice.

You can NOT run a "myspace" from anywhere except "myspace". But many hosting services do offer "social networking" software which does the same kind of networking as a "myspace" page, just not within the "myspace" network. To be a "myspace" page it has to be hosted at "myspace".

If this is your pub id "pub-3009645952699082" you are doing it correctly. Now to get the the higher paying ads to appear on your site, you need to write articles on higher paying keywords. (Heres the link that shows how much the advertiserts pay. Look at my articles site for examples of how different articles bring in different ads. Or even write a article to post yourself, just be sure to leave a link to your blog.

If you have signed up for adsense and your blog has been reviewed and approved by them then the next step for you is for you to log in to your adsense account and start going through the steps to add the ads to your blog.
